Poverty Reduction Strategies (PRSs) provide a framework for low income countries to articulate their development priorities and to specify the policies, programs, and resources needed to meet their goals. They also serve as a framework for better coordination of development assistance among development partners and encourage donors to provide predictable, harmonized assistance that is aligned with country priorities.
This two hour seminar brought together important leaders from a variety of different countries and development organizations to share their perspectives on the challenges of the country-based development model, as more and more countries prepare their second or third round of poverty reduction strategies. It also offered suggestions on how the implementation of the country-based model can be strengthened, particularly in the context of a growing number of aid providers and modalities and increasing debates over aid effectiveness and scaling up.
